MY "TOKYO"
In 2010, I traveled to Tokyo for the first time. To say I was suffering from jet lag would be an understatement. Rather than toss and turn in the darkness of my hotel room, I decided to head out into the city. It was 3AM. As I wandered through the city's dimly lit parks, streets, and alleyways I found myself at peace. The magical city was asleep. My mind became extremely calm and I was suddenly able to process problems and challenges that had previously flustered me. For the next 5 days, I continued this process and each day my mind was clearer and clearer. When I returned home to Chicago, I continued this process. I don't make a journey every day, hopefully 3 or 4 times a month, but I always document something that I witness when I do. The following are images from recent "Tokyo" adventures. Hopefully they inspire you to find your Tokyo.
(5:45 AM) Each summer, I go on a camping trip with cousins somewhere in Washington state. This trip, we spent 4 event filled days at Fort Worden State Park on the sound. Each morning I snuck away to wander the beach collecting sea glass and amazingly colored, ocean polished stones.
